2007 PG Medical Karnataka –COMED-K to share 33 percent Seats with Govt.

Paving the way for a smooth P-G medical and dental admissions next year, the state government and Comed-K on Monday agreed to share seats for 2007 admissions.

As per the in-principle agreement, Comed-K will give 33% of its seats (both diploma and degree courses) to the state government to be filled under concessional fee category.

"We have reached a consensus with the private colleges to share the seats in this manner. There will be 33% concession in the fees too," medical education minister V S Acharya told TOI.

Of the 67%, under management quota, Comed-K will reserve 15% seats for NRIs and 5% for institutional preference. Of the remaining, 24% will be set aside for Karnataka students and 23% for non-Karnataka students.

Comed-K post-graduate entrance test will be on Feb. 11, 2007 while RGUHS has tentatively agreed to hold the test for government quota seats on Feb 4, 2007.

"It's a mutual agreement which will help students. We'll sign an MoU so that it is not challenged in courts of law," RGUHS vicechancellor P S Prabhakaran said.
