CAT 2006 Errors - "No Effect on Students" - IIM

The Common Admission Test 2006 was marred by printing errors in the question paper.

The IIMs have accepted these errors :

  • In Q56 of form 333, 15 kg was the right answer but it wasn't in the options.
  • In Q30 of form 444 there were three options instead of five.
  • In Q56 of form 111 and Q69 of form 333 the answer was printed as September 8 instead of September 28.

The IIMs have guaranteed that interests of students who appeared for the exams on Sunday will be safeguarded. Admission chairmen of the six IIMs will be meeting and taking a final view on the manner in which to compensate for candidates for mistakes, which were largely in the nature of typos or printing mistakes.

A member of the CAT group which conducts admission procedure, Bhattacharya said after evaluation of the papers a decision would be taken so that the students get "fair justice".

He ruled out holding of the examination afresh.

The results are expected in January.

Nearly 1.9 lakh candidates had appeared for the CAT examinations which took place across the country.
