IITs and IIMs to carry on Admissions as per 2006-07 Rules


The Central Govt. vide a press release has directed all Central Educatioal Institutes to carry out admissions on the basis of rules that existed during the academic session 2006-07 as per the policy of reservation prevailing for that session. The Press Note Says:


ADMISSION FOR THE ACADEMIC SESSION 2007 -08 IN CENTRAL EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS


This is further to our communications (No. F.14-40/2007-TS.H. dated the 5th April, 2007 and the 19th April, 2007). You (All Central Educational Institutions, as per list) are aware that the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India has by an Interim Order of the 29th March, 2007 stayed the operation of the Central Educational Institutions (Reservation in Admission) Act, 2006 so far as it relates to Section 6 thereof for the OBC Category; and the matter is now posted for hearing on the 8th May, 2007.

In the light of the above, the offer of admissions for the ensuing academic session in Central Educational Institutions shall, until further communication, be limited to the approved intake that existed during the academic session 2006-07 as per the policy of reservation prevailing for that session. It is further clarified that no offers of admission shall be made until further communication, in respect of seats that are proposed to be expanded during the ensuing academic session.

This issues with the approval of the Competent Authority.
