MBBS, BDS 2008 admissions to have SC, ST Quota


SC/ST to get reservation for UG courses in medical colleges -

The government has decided to introduce reservation for the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes candidates in undergraduate medical and dental courses from this year under the all-India entrance examination.


With the purposed reservation, the medical college now has to maintain a 15 percent reservation for Schedule Caste and 7. 5 percent for Schedule Tribes in the exams conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) - CBSE AIPMT 2008

The Union Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss on Monday said that the government’s intention to introduce reservation for SC/ST students in medical and dental colleges of the country for the under graduate courses under the All India Entrance Examination.With the introduction of the quota, around 310 SC and 155 ST students will benefit this year. In 2007, the total number of MBBS/BDS seats was 2,075, which were filled on the basis of merit.

In 2007 the government had made available the same number in percentage for PG students from All India Quota as per merit determined by all India PG entrance examination conducted by AIIMS, New Delhi.

It is applicable for the total 3085 PG Seats including degree and diploma in around 125 medical colleges all across the country.

The recent proposal came after the Supreme Court left it to the Central government to come up with an appropriate policy after hearing an application filed by the Health Ministry in this regard.

    ALREADY THERE IS SO MUCH CUT TROAT COMPETITION THEN THIS STUPID PERSON INCREASED THE YEARS IN MEDICINE

    PLEASE SOME ONE TELL HIM THAT MEDICINE IS A NOBLE PROFESSION AND HE SHOULD ATLEAST LEAVE IT OUT OF DIRTY POLITICS

  • I completely agree.. I hate Indian politics .. 1st outsiders used the divide & rule policy & now .. these dirty politians are doing the same.I dont know, uptill wen is this going to continue ..I believe every caste shud rise up & oppose this coz it might seem beneficial for the moment , but it is going to be harmful to all ,eventually .

  • I completely agree.. in old times outsiders used the divide & rule policy & now these politians are using it.. I believe everyone from all catses & creed to oppose this, coz it might seem beneficial to some for the moment , but It is going to be harmful to everyone in the long run.Education Oppurtunities shud be given to only deserving candidates irrespective of the caste, color or creed.Is this the picture of the'shining India'

  • its anarrow mindeed health minister & central govt who has no vision for future india.it is unfortunate that when world moving on merit,our govt is suppressing merit & dividing india on cast line .for howlong this will continue.alraedy meritorious students facing hardship in getting seats.this health mister is a nonsense & wants to remain in newsby rubbish decision.it is unfortunate that supreme court ask ministry to come out with proposal to implement resrvation over & above resrvation of the seats already in place by state.i hope all progressive people of india should come out to file challange against it to supreme court.wedemand that this minister should be removed from post who is not performimg & doing nothing to bring improvment in health care.he has not taken any steps during his tenure to improve medical education in india.dr MA.iliyas.

  • dear all my friends...........regarding anonymous said.....AND regarding my self, i belongs to the family of blue blood, money and statous is nothing for me.i ask u all,one question, have u seen the people who r living below the poverty line? are they not the human beings? are not they dreamy like us? if yes ,then first thing who is responsible for heir miserable conditions?if ,our fore fathers , then who is at fault?perhaps, we will not take the responsibilty, and say that their life or fortune is like that .please....dont decive urs self.if ours forefathers wear wrong, then dont blindly follow them. dont decive urself, ask the yourself, what we are doing? are we not selfish? please,respect all, love all, and be kind to the people who are in need.u will feel the utmost peace and enjoyment.dear sisters and brothers and friends please ,forgive me if iam wrong ,but i have seen the god in their services, u must thanks the GOD that we have not born in their families, so we are not aware their difficulities.so dont be jelous, let them take their share in services and admissions,ramdoss is is a good man, who feels their panic. i salloute him. kanwer2006@yahoo.co.
