AIPMT 2009 mains to be Subjective Test, Objective from 2010

AIPMT 2009 (MAINS) pattern to remain the same – a Subjective Test

AIPMT 2009 mains to be Subjective Test, Objective from 2010, informs Central board of Secondary Education (CBSE).

Recently, The Supreme Court had approved the Central Board of Secondary Education’s proposal to have objective type tests in both the preliminary and final examinations for filling the 15 per cent all India quota for admissions to medical/dental courses in 2009.

CBSE now has decided to make the change in AIPMT pattern from 2010 onwards.

CBSE Notice says,

The Board is receiving a large number of queries from the candidates, whether the AIPMT (Final)-2009 examination would be subjective type of objective type? It is brought to the notice of all concerned that in the year 2009 there is no change in the pattern of AIPMT (Final) examination. Hence, the examination would be conducted in the following way :-

1. AIPMT (Preliminary) 2009 on 5th April, 2009 – OBJECTIVE TYPE

2. AIPMT (Final) 2009 on 10th May, 2009 – SUBJECTIVE TYPE

It is also brought to the notice that the pattern would be changed from AIPMT-2010 examination.

CBSE AIPMT 2009 Important dates

CBSE has announced the schedule of AIPMT 2009 Entrance Examination

The AIPMT 2009 Preliminary Exam is scheduled for April 5, 2009 and the Mains Exams will be held on May 10

AIPMT 2009 aspirants can collect the Application Forms from October 22, 2008 and the Last date of submission is 1st December 2008. The Central Board of Secondary Education, Delhi, would be conducting the All-India Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental Entrance Examination, 2009. This entrance examination is being conducted exclusively for the 15% merit positions for the Medical/Dental Colleges of India as specified in the directive of the court and will be governed by the rules and regulations specified for the same by the Government of India, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare from time to time.

what is the process of Common Proficiency Test (CPT) ?

How to Join CPT?

A student who has passed the class 10 examination conducted by an examining body constituted by law in India or an examination recognised by the Central Government as equivalent thereto can join the CPT after registration.

The Fees for Registration

The registration fees are Rs. 1,500, which is to be paid along with a filled in application form.

Registration for CPT

A student should register with the Board of Studies by submitting the prescribed form, which can be obtained from offices of the Institute. The form can also be downloaded from the website

The subjects to be studied

Session-I (Two Sections-Two hours-100 Marks)

* Section A: Fundamentals of Accounting (60 Marks)

* Section B: Mercantile Law (40 Marks)

Session-II (Two Sections-Two hours – 100 Marks)

* Section C: General Economics (50 Marks)

* Section D: Quantitative Aptitude (50 Marks)

The Eligibility for Appearing in the CPT

A registered student may appear in CPT after appearing in the Senior Secondary Examination (10+2 examination) conducted by an examining body constituted by law in India or an examination recognized by the Central Government as equivalent thereto.

Application for Appearing in the Examination

A student has to apply in the prescribed form along with the examination fee of Rs. 300 within the stipulated period. Examination forms will be available at different offices and branches of the Institute.

The Qualifying Marks

The qualifying marks are 50%. A student has to keep in mind that CPT is an objective type test with negative marking as will be indicated in the question paper for selecting the wrong option.

The Next Step after Passing CPT

After passing CPT and 10+2 examination, a student may join the Chartered Accountancy Course which is divided into following two levels and undergo practical training for 3 ½ years:

* Professional Competence Course.

* Final Course.
